Beaded Macaw Feather Medicine Fan
Nicholas is a very experienced craftworker, drawing on Native North American and Siberian craft techniques, whose craft traditions he has studied for many decades.
Over a period of almost 40 years years, he has made drums, rattles, feather fans and other items, and is well known for his colourful, Native American style peyote (gourd) stitch beadwork. His objects have been used by people in their shamanic or medicine practice all over the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, and his work has been commissioned by several members of the Native American Church for use in traditional peyote ceremonies.
Over the years Nicholas has been fortunate to be able to closely examine original craftwork held in public and private collections, and this has helped him learnt many of the traditional methods of construction used in these objects.
He now rarely takes commissions for craftwork, as his own shamanic work, art and music, and the work of running Sacred Hoop Magazine takes up too much time. However please feel free to contact him if you wish to commission something as he does do work for people from time to time
